Our History
From Terschelling to a continent-wide movement.
How It All Began
The Eurofaeries trace their origins to the Netherlands in the mid-1990s, when the first gathering of Radical Faeries in Europe took place on the island of Terschelling in June 1995.
In March 1999, a small foundation — Stichting Eurofaeries — was established to support communities and fundraising, offering alternatives to a predominantly urban queer culture by creating opportunities and spaces for exploring identity, spirituality, and connection.
Growing With the Community
Since the 1990s, the LGBTQIA+ world has grown and changed, and the Eurofaeries have grown and changed with it. Today, groups of Radical Faeries can be found organising within and alongside the broader LGBTQIA+ community, not only in the Netherlands but across the European continent and beyond.
We remain connected to the worldwide Radical Faeries movement, a decentralised network of queer cultural communities dedicated to creating alternatives to mainstream LGBTQIA+ culture.
The Association
On 5 December 2023, the Association 'The Radical Faeries of Europe' (Eurofaeries) was formally established as a vereniging (association) with full legal capacity, registered in the Netherlands.
The association was founded to serve the Radical Faeries in the European LGBTQIA+ and worldwide Radical Faerie community, in the same spirit as the former Stichting Eurofaeries and with attention to the growing needs of the broader community today.

Our Objectives
The Eurofaeries work to:

- ✶Support ecological living spaces and sustainable practices
- ✶Honor the legacy of those who came before and paved the way for our movement
